Drug Uses
Imodium is used for handling and controlling diarrhea, including traveler's diarrhea, and decreasing the volume of discharge from an ileostomy (a surgical opening in the wall of the intestines). It can also be used for other conditions as determined by your physician.
How Taken
Use Imodium as pre-scripted by your doctor. To avoid stomach upset take Imodium with a food intake. It is suggested to drink extra fluids while you are taking Imodium and while you have diarrhea. Do not use for more than 2 days unless pre-scripted by a physician.
Additional Information
Imodium can cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may worsen if Imodium is taken with alcohol or certain other drugs. Use Imodium with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly dangerous tasks until you know how you respond to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your physician. Imodium should be used only by the patient for whom it has been ordered. Do not take less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your physician.
