Drug Uses
Imodium is used for handling and controlling diarrhea, including traveler's diarrhea, and decreasing the volume of discharge from an ileostomy (a surgical opening in the wall of the intestines). It may also be used for other conditions as recommended by your doctor.
How Taken
Use Imodium as directed by your physician. To avoid stomach upset take Imodium with a meal. It is suggested to drink extra fluids while you are taking Imodium and while you have diarrhea. Do not use for more than 2 days unless pre-scripted by a doctor.
More Information
Imodium can cause drowsiness or dizziness. These effects may worsen if Imodium is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Imodium with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you respond to this drug. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, contact your doctor. Imodium should be used only by the patient for whom it has been ordered. Do not take less or more or take it more often than directed by your physician.
