DAYS XIAN & BEIJING

Xian, the former capital of China, was the seat of
the Emperor for more than 10 dynasties and over 1000
years. Lying at the eastern end of the Silk Road, it
is home to some of the most spectacular sights in
China. While the thousands life-sized terracotta
warriors is the top attraction, it is by no means
the only one. The excellent museums, the Muslim
Quarters with the unique Great Mosque, the City
Wall, the Tang tombs are all great sites to visit.
The political & cultural capital of China for the
past hundreds of year, Beijing perhaps makes
decision for more people than any other capital
cities. It also has incredibly much to offer to
tourists. The greatest man-made structure in the
world - Great Wall, the much talked about Forbidden
Palace, the lovely Summer Palace ..... the list can
goes on & on.
Day 01SHANGHAI/XIAN
Fly Shanghai/Xian.
Upon arrival, met & transfer to Bell Tower or Hyatt
Regency.
This afternoon, enjoy a city tour of Xian visiting
the excellent Provincial History Museum, Bell Tower
and exploring the winding alleys of the Islamic
Quarter and the unique Great Mosque.
Day 02XIAN
Today, visit one of the greatest sights of China -
the Terra Cotta Warriors, thousands of life-sized
soldiers, each with different expressions and
horses, all companions for the burial of the first
emperor of China - he is also builder of the Great
Wall.
En route, you will visit Bangpo, the Neolithic
Village. In the evening, we spend time on the City
Wall with views over the city.

Day 03XIAN/BEIJING
Transfer to the airport for flight to Beijing.
Upon arrival, met & transfer to Peace Novotel or
Peninsula Palace Hotel.
This afternoon, go on a tour of the Forbidden City -
where the Emperors of China resided for more than
close to 600 years. China imperial history unfolds
as you explore the huge compound and the various
rooms in the palace complex. Tour ends at Tian An
Men, which witness some of the dramatic event of
China’s recent history.

Day 04BEIJING
Of course, no visit to Beijing is complete without
the Great Wall! Today, we make a full day to
Mutianyu, a less visited section of the Wall. En
route, also visit the Ming Tomb.

Day 05BEIJING/SHANGHAI
This morning, visit the Summer Palace with the
lovely garden and lakes - Renshoudian Palace,
Deheyuan Theatre Museum, Long Corridor, Marble
Boat...
Transfer to the airport for flight Beijing/Shanghai.

EXTENSION TO DATONG
Day 05BEIJING/DATONG
After the morning tour in Beijing, drive 4 hours to
Datong. Check into Yungang International Hotel.

Day 06DATONG
Visit the Yungang Grottoes, is one of China抯 largest
grottoes and world famous treasure house of arts and
culture; The Huayan Monastery, Shanhua Monastery and
the Nine Dragon Screen, said to be the largest
screen of its type anywhere in China.

Day 07DATONG/TAIYUAN/SHANGHAI
Today, we visit the Sakyamuni Wooden Pagoda at
Wooden Pagoda in Yingxian County. Late afternoon,
drive to Taiyuan for flight back to Shanghai in the
evening.

1 DAY EXTENSION IN XIAN
Spend the extra day visiting the outstanding Tang
tombs of Empress Wu Zetian and Prince Yide. Also,
visit Famen Si Pagoda with its underground vault
holding the sacred finger bone of the Sakyamuni
Buddha.
1 DAY EXTENSION IN BEIJING
An extra day in Beijing allows you to visit Tiantan,
the Heavenly Temple where the Emperor performed the
most important rituals. It is now the symbol of
China Tourism. Also, go on an unique tour - a
rickshaw tour of the Hutong area including Siheyuan.,
Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Prince Gong Mansion.
