DAYS YANGTZE CRUISE
Trip code: CN-YRC
The Yangtze River is the longest in China and third
longest in the world. To the Chinese it means far
more than that - it is the mother river of the
nation. This cruise takes you through the heart of
China - its history and local life as you enjoy the
famous scenery of the Three Gorges. Also, marvel at
the great man-made wonder - Three Gorges Dam.
Day 01ARRIVE CHONGQING
Fly to Chongqing.
Upon arrival, met & make an excursion to the
Buddhist Grotto of Dazu (about 2½ hours drive away).
This is rated alongside other great Buddhist cave
sculpture like the one in Dunhuang. The stone
carvings there are unparalleled works of art in the
world and were included by UNESCO as a World
Heritage site in 1999.
Returning to Chongqing, spend some time along
Ciqikou Old Street lined with old tea houses,
temples, shops. Have a Chongqing Hot Pot before
boarding your cruise Victoria or East King/Queen
tonight.
(Lunch, Dinner included)
Day 02YANGTZE CRUISE
Enjoy the morning cruising and after lunch, we visit
Fengdu. The local residents of Fengdu believed that
the town is populated by ghosts. The plethora of
demon-decorated temples, buildings, and statues in
this river town attest to their beliefs and has
earned it the moniker "City of Devils" - the carved
facades are truly fascinating.
Note: The cruise itinerary is subject to change
according to ship company's adjustment, weather
situation and similar without prior notice.
(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)
Day 03YANGTZE CRUISE
Today, we cruise past 2 of the famous 3 gorges:
Qutang Xia (Qutang Gorge), is the shortest (5
miles), narrowest (500 feet), and most dramatic. The
25-mile long Wu Xia (Witches Gorge) is flanked by
cliffs so sheer that the sun barely penetrates the
precipices. We will also explore the "small 3
gorges" by motorized sampans. Many described the
small gorges to be more spectacular the 3 main
gorges. Tonight, we will sail past the western
section of Xiling Gorge (the longest of the 3
gorges) and cross 3 gorges dam ship lock.
(Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)
Day 04YANGTZE CRUISE/WUHAN
This morning, visit the famous 3 gorges dam, the
biggest hydro-electric power plant in the world. And
sail past the eastern section on Xiling Gorge to
Yichang where we disembark around noon. Drive about
4 hours to Wuhan. En route, you will pass Shashi
town, visiting the museum which displays highly
precious cultural relics, such as silk in Warring
States period (475 B.C.-221 B.C.) and a
well-preserved male mummy over 2000 years ago. Upon
arrival in Wuhan, check into Shangri-la.
