30 Nov: Hanoi – Thacba lake, ~165 km (L, D)

We start the trip at 8h30 am to get out of the crazy traffic of Hanoi and ride along the Red River bank and then continue by following the Chay river with beautiful scenery of rice, maize fields, daily lives of local people when passing villages. Great for riding in the fresh air with exceptional free feeling!

Very warm welcome at homestay where we enjoy the “fiesta dinner” and pass unforgettable overnight with Dzao family in Vu Linh village.

1 Dec: Thacba lake – Babe national reserve, ~ 160 km (B, L, D)

Ride in the magic land with great green tea hills expanding along the small roads: good moments to have nice pictures!

We continue through natural forest landing into Ba Be National Park where we will stay with a family of Tay ethnic family, locates on beautiful view of rock mountain and rice fields surrounding the biggest Ba-be Natural Lake of Vietnam.

2 Dec: Ba Be – Quang Uyen, ~ 180 km (B, L, D)

Beautiful ride up to Cao Bang province. Few passes from where you can dominate the area. The road is easy but many curves. We can stop a lot. All together, stop for drinks and food, it should be an 8-hour journey. Then ride 1 more hour to reach the beautiful village of Quang Hoa, in the middle of a mountain cirque. This is the territory of Nung An people. Spend the night in our friend’s house.

3 Dec: Quang Uyen – Ban Gioc waterfalls – Quang Uyen, ~ 120km (B, L, D)

We make our way through spectacular scenery to Vietnam's most impressive waterfalls. We could stop at Trung Khanh ethnic market (if the day we arrive) and enjoy the activities in the multicolour human forest! Weather permitting we can swim right up to where the 50 m high falls hit the river. Make sure that your camera batteries are full because of impressive landscapes in order to have wonderful pictures of the trip. We return to our stilt-house at the end of day and many “bottom up” will bring nice dreams to our sleep!

4 Dec: Quang Uyen – Bac Son, 130 km (B, L, D)

We ride down from Quang Uyen district to That Khe town following the historical road No 4 during the French war in Vietnam with the different famous battles such as That Khe, Dong Khe, Lung Phay... Arrive at That Khe town, we stop for lunch then drive into the forest beautiful road in direction to Bac Son where we pass overnight at People Community Guest-house.

5 Dec: Bac Son – Hanoi, 150 km (B, L)

Riding in small countryside road, limestone karts, bamboo, rice fields, visiting villages of Tay and Nung people on the road... . The return trip begins on National Highway No 1 with the easy riding back to Hanoi.
